11-16-2015: Effective Immediately or Upon the Next Renewal Date for Existing Clients
In an effort to better serve our clients and their individual needs, we are making changes to our web and email hosting packages. These changes offer more flexibility and savings for clients that don’t utilize all the benefits of their current hosting package. Licensing for PawsOnWeb modules will not be changing at this time. These changes only apply to server hosting for sites and emails, as well as technical support.
The biggest change we are making is that site hosting and email hosting will no longer be packaged together. We are making this change due to increases we are seeing in the cost for server maintenance and resources. We have also noticed that many of our clients are not utilizing all of the resources of their current packages. Instead of increasing costs across the board we have decide to restructure our hosting to keep cost down and offer a model that allows you to pay only for what you are using.
Below you can see how our new hosting packages are set up. We have expanded our Shared site hosting into 4 levels to be able to offer a package that better matches your specific site hosting needs. Hosting costs will be determined at the time of renewal, based on the amount of storage being used by your site.
We are still offering dedicated servers for hosting sites and email, but because these are tailored to your exact needs, we are no longer offering set packages. Please call us today to discuss your hosting needs and see if dedicated hosting is right for you.
Website Shared Hosting
All shared hosting comes with Unlimited Bandwidth, CPU usage, and runs on Solid State drives. Package size is determined on the amount of storage needed on the server for Images, Documents, Database, and other files required to operate your site.
Small: 1mb - 100mb storage
Medium: 100mb – 250mb storage
Large: 250mb – 500mb storage
Extra Large: Over 500mb storage
Sites exceeding 1gb of total storage or exceeding 40mb of database storage may be moved to a dedicated server. Bassett & Brush will contact you about options if your site reaches this size.
Currently all clients hosting their email with Bassett & Brush are using shared email hosting. In the past, we have offered these in 5 block groups with our website hosting and as an add-on package. We are no longer offering these in 5 block groups. We are now offering email accounts on a per email account pricing structure. This way you are not paying for 5 emails when you are only using 2, or 15 when you only needed 11. This also means if you are not hosting your email with us, you’re not paying for email accounts you are not using. We are also expanding our email offering to include managed cloud hosted email, and dedicated email hosting services. These services can offer more features and alleviate some of the issues experienced in shared hosting. Please see below for more details.

PLEASE NOTE: Cloud and shared email accounts services are NOT intended for Mass Emailing. Sending emails to more than 10 recipients at a time on shared hosting plans can result in our servers being flagged as a source of spam, which can cause other servers to reject any emails sent from our servers. This affects all users on our Shared Email Hosting. Cloud hosted email accounts also have sending limits and will shut down your email if they are exceeded.
Mass Email; E-Newsletters
If you need to send mass emails, like an e-newsletter or announcement, we offer bulk email services. Our bulk or mass email service has some added features that also make this a much better option than trying to send from your individual email account.
- Personalized emails. Each email can be sent with the recipient’s name address or other personal data you have collected.

Shared Email Hosting
Shared hosting for email is an excellent way to get your company’s email up and running at affordable rates. Shared email hosting offers secure IMAP and SMTP connections which work well with the most popular email software programs, such as Outlook, Mac Mail, Windows Mail, Thunderbird and many others. Don’t have an email software installed on your computer? No problem, you can access your email through a web browser such as, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, or Safari. You can also connect your Android and/or Apple devices, keeping your emails synced between your computer and mobile devices, for a seamless email experience. Shared email hosting does not offer calendar syncing, contact syncing, or other advanced features cloud email has to offer.
Cons: Because shared email hosting is shared with other users on a server, their actions can impact your email functionality, such as the ability to send or receive emails, although this is rare in our experience. Shared hosting also has more rigid restrictions on quotas such as, size of email, amount of storage, and the number of emails you can send to at a time. While shared email hosting may have some limitations, we find it’s a very economical solution for most companies.

Cloud Email Hosting
Cloud Email Hosting is a very good alternative for those needing more than Shared Email Hosting provides, without the expense of a dedicated server. Google and Microsoft offer great business class cloud email accounts at affordable rates. These services offer online access to synced calendars, contacts and other collaboration tools not available in Shared Email Hosting. Cloud Email is also more resistant to sending and receiving issues which can occur with Shared Email Hosing. Bassett & Brush is expanding its email hosting to include Managed Cloud Hosted Email. For a low monthly/yearly rate we will setup and maintain your email accounts with Google or Microsoft. Technical Support Changes
With these new changes to hosting, Bassett & Brush is also changing its technical support offerings. As always any technical issue with our servers or the services we manage is included with your hosting fees. This does not include setting up email programs or mobile devices on your equipment, or any issues caused by an end user.
Non-supported issues include, but are not limited to:
- IP Bans caused by repeated failed logins.
- Any connection issues determined to be issues with client's network or ISP.
- Errors when setting up devices.
- Any issue caused by 3rd party software or operating systems.
Bassett & Brush will supply written instructions for setting up email and logging into services we provide or manage. If you need us to setup and install emails or other software for you, these services are now billed at our hourly tech support rate. As we always have, we offer a onetime training with any new site for all PawsOnWebTM modules. Additional training sessions are billed at tech support rates.
We will do our best to inform you when tech support rates apply, but this may not always be possible. Bassett & Brush reserves the right to charge for technical support calls without prior notice. If it is determined that the problem does not reside on Bassett & Brush servers or the services we manage, we will bill for all time spent troubleshooting the issue, minimum charges may apply.

Changes for site and email hosting take effect on December 1st 2015, and will be reflected at the time of your next renewal.
